Discover the Beauty of Slow Living

I love sourdough, houseplants and gardens. For all of the obvious reasons, but also because these things symbolize home, stability, roots and the life I've always chased and finally found. Welcome to my tiny farmhouse with crooked floors, drafty windows and doors that don't shut right. Here you'll find lots of food and lots of love.

Seasonal Sourdough Mix

Today, I'm spending a rainy day making sourdough using my 100-year-old starter. This is a slow, cozy process that takes time and is  perfect for a quiet day at home. If you'd like, I can send you a free copy of my sourdough routine. I have had so many painful sourdough fails but this step by step routine hasn't let me down yet.

Sourdough bagels

I love these sourdough discard bagels and its a great way to avoid wasting all that beautiful sourdough discard I’ve been collecting. Let me know if you'd like a free copy of my sourdough discard bagel recipe?  If you’ve got extra discard piling up in your fridge and want to make something incredibly delicious (and I mean, take a moment of silence kind of delicious) —these bagels are the move.

A beautiful scar: Becoming Who You are after surviving who you love

This is a memoir for women who had everything except choices.

I confront a social myth that says capable women are too smart to be trapped

From the outside, my life appeared stable, successful, maybe even enviable.  From the inside, it was limited, confusing, and heartbreaking.

At its core, A Beautiful Scar asks, What if you are not broken but buried? What if the life you’re trying to get back to…is one you haven’t actually lived.

Dogs are Girl's Best Friend

But The Worst Co-Workers

They want to go to that place where you talk into a machine and then you drive forward where the wall opens and food comes out. They don’t understand I’m not going there , I’m going to work. 😂

ioo years in a jar

I’m showing you how I feed my 100-year-old sourdough starter—a bubbly heirloom given to me as a housewarming present. This isn’t just a how-to; it’s a love letter to bread, friendship, and the tiny microbes that make the magic happen. Want my free recipe for this starter? Just let me know!

My feline family

When I first moved to the county, I passed a small farm with a hand-painted sign: eggs for sale. I pulled in, and two redheaded children came up to me, each holding an orange kitten.

“Want one?” they asked.

I had $20 in my pocket—so naturally, I left with a kitten and no eggs. I named her Suki.

Before I could get her fixed, Suki had kittens of her own. I gave three to friends and kept Cracker and Farkus. Those two later brought home a terrified little feral stray… and just like that, my life—and my home—filled up with four beautiful cats.

Pet responsibility note: Everyone but my stray, Sturby, has been fixed. I am giving Sturby time to adjust to us and time for me to be able to hold her, before taking her to the vet.
